According to the now full-time staff at the Kensico Dam Plaza, trash cans are changed one to two times daily on an ordinary day. But on a busy day that all changes—the number of times the trash needs to be changed skyrockets to four to seven times a day. The staff which was hired in 2005 is headed by Joe Falcone. The staff has done a great job keeping the park clean and implementing new changes. As county parks spokesperson "Chip" Matthews said, "We're trying to make this Central Park North."

With the Empire State Games on the horizon, the Kensico Dam Plaza received five new BigBelly Solar Trash Compactors. These five, along with five more at Playland in Rye, are the first 10 north of New York City. What makes these compactors special is their ability to reduce trash to one-quarter of its original size using solar power.
