St. Petersburg, Forida - On the southwest corner of 2nd Street and 1st Avenue North, the City of St. Petersburg's Parks Department is quietly conducting an experiment.
A green steel box is actually a sophisticated solar-powered trash can called the BigBelly Cordless Compaction System.
Inside a locked compartment, bulky cups, bottles and plates are pressed down so the trash can holds about four times as much as a regular trash can...
